MEET OUR TEAM

Orion Fredericks -
Co-Founder

Orion Fredericks was first inspired by a variety of materials while attending the University of Alfred in NY. This inspiration led to producing bodies of work at Pillchuck Glass School in Washington, where he worked and continued to hone his craft. Fredericks then became the first studio manager and volunteer coordinator at The Crucible, where he helped to bring to life the vision of industrial education for the community in Oakland, CA. While continuing to teach at the Crucible, he worked as a performance fire sculptor with the group THERM, where he further explored “the voice of the flame” by night. By day, he was exploring it’s counter-element of water through monumental fountains for civic and private installation. He has continued to further collaborate with other industrial artists and has been creating his own series of work for over 25 years.

Orion has shown at various venues all over the U.S., small and large gathering events, music events, private showings, and commissioned civic installations since 1999.

Lucy Hosking

Mechanical Artist
& Fire Engineer

With a foundation in mechanical engineering and an irrepressible spirit of creative fire, Lucy Hosking - also known by her performance alter ego “Lucyfer the Engineer From Hell” - brings both technical mastery and explosive artistry to Numinous Designs. A Santa Cruz resident for decades, Lucy has built a body of work that fuses engineering precision with elemental spectacle, from awe-inspiring fire sculptures to mutant vehicles like the celebrated Dragons of Eden and the flame-belting marvel Satan’s Calliope, both featured at Burning Man and beyond.

Long before joining forces at Numinous Designs, Lucy and co-founder Elliott worked side-by-side in Silicon Valley, designing the hardware that powers much of our modern AI reality. Her original studio - right next door to Numinous on Delaware Ave - remains a forge of collaboration, where steel, flame, and imagination move freely between the two spaces. It’s a partnership rooted in trust, shared history, and a relentless drive to create experiences that blur the line between the industrial and the mythic.

Corey Silverman

Master Builder
& Technical Designer

Corey Silverman's artistic journey began at Alfred University in upstate New York, where he formally trained in the ancient and dynamic art of glassblowing. Upon graduating in 1998, he honed his craft at renowned studios across the country before establishing his creative home in Denver, Colorado. While his early explorations included casting, cold work, and slumped forms, he has always been drawn back to the fluid and expressive nature of the blown form, where he demonstrates a singular mastery over molten glass.

As co-owner of Prism Glassworks, Corey’s work bridges the worlds of functional design and fine art, creating exquisite glass objects for both nationwide retail partners and unique, one-of-a-kind works for private collectors. Beyond his own creations, Corey is deeply passionate about sharing the transformative power of the medium. He is an inspiring educator who opens his studio to others, guiding them through hands-on glassblowing classes and fostering a new generation of artists drawn to the fire and flow of the craft.

Boris Kostov

Designer
& Sculptor

As an artist, Boris Kostov, has always been interested in the energies of the universe. He explores these unseen forces of life through his work. These energies are displayed in the use of light and fire. The organisms created are industrial and mechanical in nature but emit life from within. Through the art, he strives to create life, and in doing so, tries to ask, if not answer, the tougher questions in it.

As a classically trained designer Boris was exposed to large art through working with other art collectives. These experiences inspired him to explore larger scale works of his own. The knowledge gained on previous projects has made the work more interesting, complex and impactful. With help of a trusted crew, the collective is pushing the boundaries of innovation in art. As the vision has come into focus, the artist has developed his unique style and visual language.
